This was the starting point with lots of black algae’s and loose mosaic tiles

The pool has been emptied of water and now all the mosaic tiles need to be removed for cleaning.

Now the grinding and preparations for new layers of impregnation begin

After three layers of impregnation have been applied, the pool is ready to start laying new mosaic tiles.

The platforms between the poles have now been repaired to prevent water and moisture from entering and causing black algae

New mosaic is being installed on the pool walls and preparations for new lighting have been made

All of Europe has been hit by an enormous cold snap and in many places it has snowed and created chaos both on the roads, with flights and in homes that may have lacked electricity and heating. We in Spain are also suffering from this cold, even though we haven't had freezing temperatures for more than one night when it was -2 degrees. It has been rainy and cloudy but this week we have had some sun and the temperature has risen to about 18 degrees.

It feels positive that we have now made it through the Christmas and New Year holidays and can look forward to slightly higher temperatures and warm sun plus the days are getting longer.

Despite the cold, the pole renovation has started and is expected to be completed soon. On December 22nd, just before Christmas, the company came and started the project. They started by removing all the mosaic tiles in both the children's pool and the adult pool. They have also identified where the growth of black mold has been so enormous in the area where we can cross between the pools.

The existing ledges/platforms between the pools have been the source of this growth as pool water and bacteria have thrived and spread down to the pool. To prevent this from happening again, they have renovated and removed most of it, cleaned it and laid new concrete which has also been impregnated 3 times. It might be a good idea not to have any potted plants there either.

After all the mosaic has been removed from the pools, the entire pool has been sanded and treated with different layers. When the base layer was laid, it was impregnated three times and the canal, where the water flows into, also underwent the same treatment. At the end of this week, new mosaics have been attached to the pool walls and this week the bottom will also be covered with new mosaic tiles. Then there is a surprise too. I will show a picture of that later.

We will also install new pool lights so the pool will feel like it is completely new. Not only that, this week we are replacing the sand as a filtration material with glass. In Zeniamar 9 there was some black algae on the pool walls and when the sand was replaced with glass all the black algae disappeared, which is incredibly positive news. So the decision to spend money on this is well worth the money.

The pool is expected to be ready by the end of February.

When the pool is completely finished, I will show more pictures and videos, but I can promise that we have a lot to look forward to with such a well-renovated pool.

In October we will start painting our buildings, block by block. The schedule will be presented before the next Annual General Meeting.
